Fernet, invented by Domenico Vittone in 1842 is made with the infucion of over 40 spices and herbs.
Fernet Vittone is usually served as a digestif after a meal, but it can also be served with coffee. In Argentina,served with Coca Cola (1/3 Fernet Vittone 2/3 Coca-Cola). The Fernet can be used for a variant of the Manhattan cocktail instead of "angostura". This is usually called Toronto or Fanciulli cocktail.
